Overview

The iImprov - Chord/Scale Compendium serves as a comprehensive reference tool for jazz musicians, offering both visual and auditory aid in identifying optimal scale choices for improvisation.
Furthermore, this application doubles as an ear training resource, aiding users in distinguishing between various scale and chord tonalities.
Its interface categorizes 25 distinct chord qualities under three overarching families: Major, Minor, and Dominant. Upon selecting a specific chord quality, the app showcases the chord in standard notation alongside a user-friendly key selection wheel.
Depending on the chord type, users receive recommendations for up to five scales. The Fast Forward feature facilitates cycling through these suggestions, while the Play button enables the user to hear the currently chosen chord and scale.
To enhance practicality, chords are depicted in close position (stacked 3rds) visually but are played in more realistic voicings that one might encounter during performance.
Similar to other offerings by JazzAppsMobile, users can opt for either bass or treble clef settings, as well as select appropriate transpositions based on their instrument of choice.
